FAQ
Do I need any experience to join a class?
Nope! Our classes are beginner-friendly unless otherwise stated. Whether you’re a total newbie or a returning potter, you’ll be guided step-by-step.
What age groups are the classes suitable for?
Most of our classes are designed for adults and teens (13+). Under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult with their own ticket. Check individual class listings for specific age requirements. From time to time we put on children’s classes.
Do I need to bring anything?
An apron and old clothes you don’t mind getting clay or underglaze on.
Can I keep the pieces I make?
Absolutely! Your creations will be sent to two kiln firings. A bisque, then a glaze firing. They will be ready for pickup after a few weeks. We’ll send you an email to let you know when they’re ready. They will be available on a Saturday morning at the studio.
How do I book a class?
All bookings must be made online through our website. Classes must be paid in full at the time of booking to secure your spot.
Can I just watch and not participate?
Sorry, no spectators. Everyone in the studio must have a paid booking, even if you’re accompanying a child. It’s a hands-on experience for all!
Do you offer private events or group bookings?
Yes! We offer sessions for birthdays, hens parties, and more. Get in touch for custom group packages.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least six days in advance by contacting us at oatleypottery@gmail.com. We are a small studio and for us, the fixed costs are much higher because of the small capacity. For a private booked event, we require two weeks notice for a full refund. After that, no refund or credit, but you can reschedule with a 30% late rescheduling fee based on your original booking price.
A note on breakages.
Cracks, glaze quirks and breakages can occasionally occur during the firing process for ceramics. Pottery can be unpredictable.
